Empty Provisions is an ethical fashion brand that believes in supporting local communities & being a responsible steward to our world. We produce comfortable leather footwear and beautiful accessories for you to make your own.
The inspiration behind Empty Provisions came from the wisdom that "the usefulness of a pot comes from its emptiness" (Laozi). With this in mind, we create simple, timeless, and useful pieces that can serve as vessels for beauty, love and adventure.
All of our products are designed in Somerville, MA and we partner with artisans in Maine for a final product that is crafted with care.

Why Local Matters:
We strive to keep things simple, ethical, and sustainable, so you can feel good knowing each purchase helps the local New England economy, keeps skilled craftspeople doing what they love, and preserves the art of shoemaking in the USA.
At Empty Provisions, we believe in transparency in all aspects and proud support of our neighbors, reflecting a rich hometown history of shoemaking and a thriving artistic community today.
By sourcing and producing locally, we’ve minimized our carbon footprint. Our central-Maine based manufacturing partner celebrates a long artisanal history, paying their employees a living wage and keeping the local economy stimulated.
All of our shoeboxes are made in the USA from post-consumer waste—and you can recycle them at home! We also include a reusable cloth bag for storage.
